Excessive consumption of fenugreek can lead to a curry like body odour

Contraindicated in patients who suffer from celery-carrot-mugwort spice syndrome. Allergic reactions to fennel are rare and seem to be limited to occupational exposure.

Based on recent pharmacologic study, high doses of fenugreek are not recommended in patients with low thyroid activity.  A medical source cites fenugreek as having the potential to interact with warfarin and potentially increase the risk of bleeding.  Large or frequent doses of fenugreek may inhibit iron absorption.

Caution is advised when using fenugreek in diabetic or hypoglycaemic patients because the herb has been shown to lower blood glucose; however, this does not appear to be a significant effect, with blood sugar changes only minimal, even in non insulin dependant diabetic patients.

For men, research has shown anti fertility and anti androgenic effects on male rats who were fed a fenugreek extract.
